Project Details

The Ramthal irrigation project represents an ambitious rethinking of surface irrigation projects. Hailed as the largest drip irrigation project in Asia, it provides thousands of small-scale farmers in Karnataka, India, with irrigation water using a network of sub-surface piping and drip irrigation.
The project's goal is to transform the local agricultural landscape, from subsistence, rainfed, cereal based cultivation to high value, commercial horticultural cultivation. This study conducts a long-term evaluation of the project's impact on local farmers.
